There was a time when winter was my favourite season. But the last few years, autumn has captured my heart and every year I look forward to Halloween and spooky movie nights. I’ve written a few posts already about the best classic Halloween movies and what new movies to watch. However, this year, I want to make a post solely dedicated on how to host an amazing Halloween movie night, especially because October 31st falls on a Sunday this year (thus, making it easier to gather with friends cause it’s not a weekday).
Decorate the house for Halloween
Like every good host/hostess, the first step to a successful gathering is to decorate the house appropriately. In this case, spooky decor is a must for a successful Halloween movie night. What you choose to use is completely up to your personal taste. You can go with a pumpkin theme or you can go overboard with a haunted house theme. Another option would be a Harry Potter themed decor -my favourite inspo is Youtuber Sarah Hawkinson’s video.

Prepare Halloween themed snacks
The second most important bit for a Halloween movie night is of course the snacks. In all fairness, the snacks are the most important part of all movie nights! 😊 You can always turn to Pinterest if you’re lacking inspiration and you want to find some good Halloween snack recipes. My personal favourite is spooky snacks, like finger biscuits and haunted cupcakes. But you can, also, go with an autumn theme and have all things pumpkin with pumpkin spice bread, pumpkin spice lattes -you get the vibe. 🎃
Classic Halloween movies (and new 2021 Halloween releases)
Last, but not least, is the centre of it all: the Halloween movies. You can refer back to my suggestions in previous posts OR, to make it easier, I’ll list the best classic Halloween movies and new Halloween themed films below. Obviously, it’s impossible to watch all these in one night. So, you can either choose 2-3 best Halloween movies or you can host multiple Halloween movie nights leading up to October 31st. 🍿👻
