It’s no secret that I love Christmas season. In fact, I listen to Christmas music all year round and I have a Tumblr blog dedicated solely to winter season. One of my favourite things about winter and Christmas is all the new holiday season movies. I like the old Christmas classics as well as all the cheesy new Christmas movies. Some of my top Christmas channels are Hallmark and Lifetime, but the last two years, Netflix has been pretty good in producing amazing Christmas movies that capture this special holiday feeling.🎄
Last year, I made a post about 25 days of Christmas classics and that was a list of the best Christmas movies to watch every day until December 25th. This year, I decided to focus on all the new Christmas holiday films. For this post, I will give you the list of all the new Christmas movies on Netflix that you need to watch right now. I’ve watched them all, and highly recommend them! I’m still working on the Hallmark and Lifetime new Christmas movies, so stay tuned for these posts. 😊
But let’s go ahead and explore these new Netflix Christmas movies!
This cheesy Christmas movie starring Elena Gilbert, er, I mean, Nina Dobrev, is all about dating apps and how inner beauty is more important than outside looks. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that I have a whole post on online dating apps and online dating horror stories, so I was really looking forward to watching this film. It was a bit of Netflix-Hallmark style movie, if you know what I mean, but I quite enjoyed it and I thought Nina was hilarious. Highly recommend watching it!
Father Christmas Is Back
This movie is about a family getting together during Christmas in an English castle with all the drama that families have during holiday season. I did enjoy it, even though it got a bit too predictable sometimes.
Home for Christmas
Home for Christmas is a new Netflix Christmas holiday series and it is one of the few non-English series. It has English subtitles and the spoken language is Norwegian. The story is a bit like Love Hard, it’s about a single woman trying to find love during the Christmas season, and oh my gosh, it’s pretty hilarious, especially the scenes where she goes on dates. 😂 Any of you single ladies out there will relate for sure!
Operation Christmas Drop
Another member of the Vampire Diaries is the main actress of this movie; Bonnie Bennett -no hold it- Kat Graham is playing Erica Miller, a congressional aide who ends up on a mission at a tropical U.S. Air Force, where she meets Andrew, the air force captain. You’ll have to watch the film for the rest of the story! I quite enjoyed the tropical vibe of this movie, it reminded me that in some places, Santa comes on a surfboard rather than a sleigh! 🎅
Holiday In The Wild
Sex and the City’s Kristin Davis is featuring in this film about what matters most in life. She plays a vet who finds herself in South Africa alone for her honeymoon. It’s a quite unconventional Christmas story, which to be honest, I prefer. The elephants and the animals in general in this movie made me love it even more.
A Castle For Christmas (coming Nov 26th)
This one is yet to come on Netflix, but I love the story already. It’s about a famed author, Sophie Brown, who travels to Scotland hoping to buy a small castle of her own. However, the prickly owner, Myles, the Duke of Dunbar, is reluctant to sell to a foreigner. Can’t wait to watch it!
Single All The Way (coming December 2)
The rainbow film of Christmas Netflix this year, this movie is about Peter, a single gay man who convinces his best friend Nick to join him for the holidays and pretend they are in a relationship to avoid the prying eyes of his family during Christmas. Coming on Netflix on December 2nd and I’ll be one of the first to watch it!
Yet another non-English Christmas series on Netflix in 2021. Christmas Flow is about a misogynistic rapper superstar, who somehow ends up spending Christmas with a “normal” family and of course becomes infatuated with the family’s journalist daughter.
Santa Girl is pretty much as the title says – Santa’s daughter, who decides to go to college. We follow her while she experiences all the difficulties of adapting to normal life, after having been raised in the North Pole amongst elves and reindeers.
The Princess Switch 3: Romancing The Star
The third movie in the Vanessa Hudgens franchise takes us to Montenaro during the Christmas season, and during the international Christmas festival. In this movie, we find out a bit more about Fiona, amidst the drama of the stolen precious Star of Peace of the Vatican. If you’ve watched the previous two installments you will probably like this. The style is a bit different, a bit more “Entrapment” than Christmas movie, but the overall Christmas vibe is the same.
These are all the new Netflix Christmas movies you need to watch right now! What do you think? Have you watched these already? Do you like Christmas movies? Tell me in the comments what your favourite cheesy Christmas movie is! 🍿
