The “Be Unapologetically You” Tag

Hello, sweeties! How are you all doing today? 💛 I found this cute little blogger tag the other day from Doubting Thomas, which was originally created by Ellie. I haven’t done a blogger tag since the Blogtober Tag and that was a while ago.

This blogger tag is called -as the title says- the “Be Unapologetically You” Tag. And this really resonates with me, I live by that motto. My latest post about using the f-word on your blog sums this up, but, also, my posts about taking care of your mental health sort of do the same. Being you is the only way to go about life – in my humble opinion at least. There’s no other way to do it.

I’m not going to tag anyone specific. If you have a blog, feel free to join! I would love to read your answers! If you do do this tag, please leave a comment and let me know so I can read it. 🙂

The Be Unapologetically You Tag rules:

  1. Use the Be Unapologetically You banner in your post. It can be your featured image or not. It’s totally up to you.
  2. Include the link to this blogging tag in your post – here it is!
  3. Answer the 7 questions in this tag.
  4. Nominate between 5-10 bloggers, link their blogs, and tag them on social media to notify them.
  5. Most of all, have fun!

OK, let’s make a start!

  3. Do you blog about them? Why or why not? If not, would you like to blog about them one time?

  6. What do you love the most about being a fan?
  7. Share a fun or unforgettable fan experience.

Q1: Introduce yourself and your blog while sharing one trivia about you that not that many people know.

I mean, if you’re here you probably already know a thing or two about me. But, I’ll introduce myself anyway. My name’s Maria, my lifestyle blog is “the marizé” and I’m a part time blogger. A trivia to share that not many people know, will not be one that people will continue not to know if I share it here. If that makes sense. 😆 So, I’ll try to share something that is not very revealing, but it’s, also, sort of juicy. I’ve already shared that I’m vegan, and that I come from Greece. I guess a “trivia” that not many people know about me, is that I’ve been through some shitty things in my life, which is partly the reason why I advocate so much about mental health, taking caring of yourself and being unapologetically you (see what I did there?🙃).

Q2: What topics do you love “geeking out” about that you would say are topics that give you bliss?

Geez, these questions are getting difficult! I legit don’t know how to answer that one! 🙈 I guess you could say topics I “geek out” that give me bliss -because I geek out on topics that I wouldn’t necessary say give me bliss- are topics about social media marketing, about blogging, you get the idea. I find topics about creativity, marketing, creating your own business very interesting and a form of art. And any type of art makes my heart sing! So, yeah, I’d say that’s the one. Lately, I also started geeking out on psychology topics, I started reading books, scientific journals, people’s experiences on Reddit and Quora. This doesn’t exactly give me bliss, but it gives me a sense of calm, because it helps me understand behaviours in me and in others around me a bit better.

Q3: Do you blog about them? Why or why not? If not, would you like to blog about them one time?

That ties up nicely with the previous question, and I kind of already answered it. I do blog about blogging things, I mean just writing here covers it to be honest. 😅 And I do blog about mental health. I like posting about “tools” that can help us deal with everyday life and struggles. It helps me, and I hope it helps other people reading my blog.be unapologetically you the marizé

Q4: Would you say that you are living life by being unapologetically you? Why or why not? If not, what would your life look like if you were unafraid to share more about the things that make you happy?

I do live life being unapologetically me, I really do. I’ve lived by that ever since I was little. I never understood the social normalcies, and why you cannot be yourself. I never got and still don’t get why society depicts we should be so preoccupied with what other people think, with being accepted, with fitting in certain little boxes and being part of a group. Fuck that. We need to celebrate individuality and young children need to be taught at school how to embrace their uniqueness, rather than trying to fit in a certain category. I want to say the past couple years, there has been a massive shift on this topic. Us millennials and Gen Z have started breaking these “social habits”, and we advocate on being unapollogetically you and being unconditionally accepted for it.

Q5: Permission to geek out & be unapologetically you: share with us one thing you fangirl or fanboy over and how you became a fan of it. It can be anything. Your love for soy candles, your favourite food, a boy band or an underrated film.

Hm, what do I fangirl about. Let me think. You know, I don’t really consider myself the fangirl type. I used to fangirl when I was a teenager, but even then it wasn’t that intense. It was more of celebrity crushes. Perhaps, the only “fangirling” I’m doing at the moment is Sex and the City. Literally, 95% of my TikTok videos are dedicated on that show! 😂 But, even with SATC, I don’t really own any merchandise, I don’t obsess over it per se. I think I’m too logical to fangirl, I have too much of a common sense. 🤣

Q6: What do you love the most about being a fan?

Well, like I said above, I don’t really fangirl, but what I do like about being a fan of shows – SATC, Grey’s, Friends etc – is the comfort that comes from it. It feels like home watching these shows, reading about the behind the scenes stories, watching bloopers. It helps me unwind. ☺️ There is a theory that this is actually a trauma response, but maybe that’s a post for another day. 🥲

Q7: Share a fun or unforgettable fan experience.

I wouldn’t say it’s fun but it is unforgettable. And I’m talking about the time I went to New York and I went round looking for Monica’s apartment and Carrie Bradshaw’s iconic window. That day walking round Upper West Side is honestly one of my favourite memories. Albeit a bit anticlimactic, seeing both these apartments of the iconic shows I grew up watching was sort of a bucket list check and a quite emotional moment for me. 🙂

So there it is, all 7 questions answered! I love doing these tags, I need to start doing them more often. It’s a nice break from the normal blogging content. What did you think? Will you do this tag? I nominate you!
