Festive Reads: The Top 5 Christmas Books To Get You Ready for the Holiday Season

A big hello to my fellow bookworms! šŸ¤“ It took me a while to discover the beauty of Christmas literature. šŸ“– I first saw Christmas books on Goodreads, and have been hooked ever since.

Of course, festive reads are not just for the holiday season – you can enjoy your Christmas books all year long! šŸ™ˆ The same way I listen to Xmas music all year round, and have, in fact, created a website dedicated to All Things Winter. It’s kind of my happy place for all things festive, winter and cosy.

These 5 Christmas books are bound to make feel all warm inside and put you in the festive mood; especially this year when most Christmas markets have been cancelled and Covid-19 has caused a lot of stress.

Let me know if you have already read any of these books and what you think of them! Better still, add me on Goodreads and I can read your book reviews! šŸ˜ŠšŸ“š

One Day in December by Josie Silver

A love story about what happens after you meet, or rather,Ā don’tĀ meet the one.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn’t exist anywhere but the movies. But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there’s a moment of pure magic…and then her bus drives away.

Certain they’re fated to find each other again, Laurie spends a year scanning every bus stop and cafe in London for him. But she doesn’t find him, not when it matters anyway. Instead they “reunite” at a Christmas party, when her best friend Sarah giddily introduces her new boyfriend to Laurie. It’s Jack, the man from the bus. It would be.

What follows for Laurie, Sarah and Jack is ten years of friendship, heartbreak, missed opportunities, roads not taken, and destinies reconsidered.Ā One Day in DecemberĀ is a joyous, heartwarming and immensely moving love story to escape into and a reminder that fate takes inexplicable turns along the route to happiness.

Christmas at the Cupcake CafƩ by Jenny Colgan

But when her boyfriend Austin is scouted for a possible move to New York, Issy is forced to face up to the prospect of a long-distance romance. And when the Christmas rush at the cafe – with its increased demand for her delectable creations – begins to take its toll, Issy has to decide what she holds most dear.

This December, Issy will have to rely on all her reserves of courage, good nature and cinnamon, to make sure everyone has a merry Christmas, one way or another…
